Second ex-Madrid chief 'has coronavirus'

Fernando Martin has allegedly become the second ex-Real Madrid President to be admitted to intensive care for coronavirus.

AS reports Martin is currently in the ICU of Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Madrid with a bad bout of the disease, although it is not known if he has any underlying health problems.

The 72-year-old assumed interim presidency of Los Blancos between February and April 2006 after Florentino Perez ended his first term.

Madrid did not lose a League game for the rest of the 2005-06 campaign with him at the helm, although they did exit the Champions League to eventual runners-up Arsenal.

Lorenzo Sanz, also a former Merengues patron, only died from the virus on Saturday.
