Apex Legends Season 5, officially titled Fortune’s Favor, has now launched and we’ve collected all the details that Respawn gave leading up to the new Legend and new content patch.
Of course there’s the new hero Loba, a new PvE quest system, and a brand new battle pass full of stuff to earn. While there’s no new map this time around, King’s Canyon has gotten a bit of a shakeup during Loba’s arrival so there are still some new locations to worry about.
If you’re wondering what delights Season 5 will bring, we’ve got all the info for you here.
When does Apex Legends Season 5 begin?
Season 5 is out now and first launched on May 12.
How much does the Apex Legends Season 5 battle pass cost?
As with previous seasons, the basic version of the Season 5 battle pass costs 950 Apex Coins, bringing an instant unlock of an XP boost and a handful of skins. This season that’ll be the “Legendary Hemlock Retrofitted skin and three new Rare Legends skins,” Respawn says.
There’s also the battle pass bundle, which will automatically unlocks the next 25 levels of the battle pass—along with all of the rewards that they bring—for 2,800 Apex Coins.
In real money, you can buy 1,000 Apex Coins for $10/£8. That will get you the basic pass with a little change left over. If you want the bundle, though, you’ll also need to buy the 2,150 Apex Coins package for $20/£16.
For frequent players, the battle pass can prove to be good value for money. In addition to the Apex Packs, skins, music packs, banner poses and other unlockables, the battle pass will regularly reward you with coins. In Season 4, by the time they reach level 97, players will have been awarded 1,000 Apex Coins—more than enough to grab a new legend, or even fund next season’s battle pass.
Who’s the new character in Apex Legends Season 5?
Once again, a new season means a new legend. For Season 5, you’ll be able to unlock Loba, a sophisticated thief who’s hell bent on revenge. Her parents were murdered by Season 4 star Revenant—as seen in his character trailer—and now she’s joining the games as a new character who will extract her vengeance by, er, jumping into arenas full of 60-players alongside a rolling cast of squadmates. What I’m saying is that at some point a team of Loba and Revenant will be matchmade together, and from a purely lore perspective, that’s pretty weird.
As for Loba’s abilities, we got a sneak peek at them in Loba’s own character trailer but now we know for sure what they are.
Tactical – Burglar’s Best Friend
Loba can teleport to hard-to-reach places or escape trouble by throwing her Jump Drive bracelet.
Passive – Eye For Quality
Loba can see nearby epic and legendary quality loot through walls.
Ultimate – Black Market Boutique
Loba can place a portable device that allows her to teleport nearby loot to her inventory. Other legends can take up to two items from it.
What are the map changes for Apex Legends Season 5?
Loba really did a doozy on the King’s Canyon map when she showed up to the arena at Season 5’s launch, but sinking Skull Town isn’t the only change coming to the map in Season 5. Here’s what’s up:
Skull Town and Thunderdome are gone. The broken coast is getting larger in its place.
Salvage point of interest has been added to the broken coast. Respawn say it’s a “protected arena with high-tier loot.” You can hop across the new bay between it and Gauntlet with a new two-way zipline.
Offshore rig is a huge new area. Attached to where Relay and Wetlands once were, Respawn say ” while you may have a longer journey to the circle, you’ll be much better outfitted than a squad who chose a low or mid-tier central map drop zone.”
New charge towers are all over the map. “By interacting with the control panel, you can trigger a blast that restores the ultimate of every player on the Charge Tower platform,” Respawn say of the new glowing yellow towers.
You can find out a bit more about these updates on Respawn’s site.
How do the PvE quests work in season 5?
The quest-style missions added in season 5 are nine hunts that will be released weekly throughout the season. You’re seeking out nine pieces of the Broken Ghost artifact to assist Loba in her revenge quest against Revenant for murdering her father.
Weekly hunts take place on the King’s Canyon At Night map. You’ll make your way to a target location, grab the item you’re after, and head back to an extraction point while fending off Prowlers all the while.
You’ll need to collect 5 Treasure Packs to take part in hunts, which can be found as loot around the map now that season 5 has kicked off.
You can check out the prologue chapter right away but the first of the weekly hunts will launch on May 19th.
As you can tell, there’s a whole story to the season as Loba works to exact revenge for her father’s death. “How far is she willing to go? How does the Broken Ghost fit into her plans for Revenant? And what happens when one Legend stumbles upon the truth?” writer Tom Casiello says.
“See a side of the Legends’ lives you’ve never seen before… outside of the Games! Alliances will be formed, friendships will be tested, vendettas will be born, and when the dust settles, nothing will be the same again in a mystery that has far-reaching consequences for them all.”
Will Apex Legends Season 5 make Mozambique good?
Don’t hold your breath.
